I visited the Street & Studio exhibition in the Tate Modern today. It features photographic works from the likes Of Martin Parr, Juergen Teller and Pieter Hugo, all based around the idea of urban portraiture.
By and far the highlight for me though was this two channel video installation by Rineke Dijkstra, which documents a group of teenagers from Liverpool and Zaandam dancing in make shift studios the artist created in each city. All set to a soundtrack of 90′s acid house and rave, it had me completely transfixed.
Some low quality videos of the piece here and here.
